2008/09 Season

Welcome to Junior Lower Clarence Cricket

The junior Under 12 and 14 teams travelled to Macksville to take on Nambucca - Bellingen in the first round of the interdistrict competition last weekend.

In a close match the U12's bowled and fielded well to dismiss the Nambucca team for 49 and in what developed into a closely fought game, chased down the total with 2 wickets remaining.

The Under 14's also bowled and fielded very well to dismiss Nambucca for 102. The LCCA openers saw the total to 80 before the loss of the first and only wicket to record a victory in the 44th over.

Unfortunately the U16 team were forced to forfeit their match due to a lack of numbers. However, we are hoping to field a competitive team in the next round.

Round two is at home against the CRCA .

In a rain marred event on the Central Coast, Newcastle eclipsed Riverina in a tight final of the VB Country Championships. Batting first, Newcastle totalled a competitive 216 with Simon Moore providing the backbone of the innings with a solid 77, supported by Troy Goodwin with a typically swashbuckling 50. Allen Edis was the pick of the Riverina bowlers with 4-57. After losing 3 early wickets, Riverina consolidated with Mick Delaney (62) and classy skipper Chris Armstrong (56) adding 107 for the 4th wicket. Costly run outs saw Riverina behind the run rate, along with clever bowling from experienced Newcastle leggie Ben Woolmer saw Riverina eventually dismissed for 178.
