Central North Sneak Home in Country Colts Carnival [Country Cricket] |
| Mon 26-Jan-2009 8:12 |
Central North Zone have eclipsed Central Coast in a tight affair at Lorn Park Maitland to take out the Country Colts Carnival.
Batting first, Central Coast could only manage 143 due to some excellent bowling from Cal Roberts (4-22) and Josh Trappel (3-44). Kaine Harmsworth dominated the Central Coast innings with a superb 74, following on from his 125 against Western Zone and 58 against North Coast to complete a fine carnival.
A confident Central North took to the crease however Harmsworth (4-52) turned up the heat with the ball and along with Alex Patterson (2-30) grabbed early wickets to have Central North struggling at 5-50 and 6-70. Some grit and determination from Aaron Flaherty (43) and Andrew Harriott (31) steadied the ship and saw Central North squeak home for the loss of 8 wickets in a match that had all on the edge of their seats. |
