news HK&HDCA Captain's Ticket Course - 16 & 23 Sept. 2008

The annual HK&HDCA Senior Captain's Ticket Course will be held on Tuesdays, 16 & 23 September 2008 at the Montview clubhouse, Kookaburra Road, Hornsby Heights, commencing at 7.30pm (sharp) and going through until approx. 9.30pm.
This year’s course will be presented by experienced HK&HDCA umpires, led by Simon Moore, HKHDCUA Training Officer, and John McQuillan, HKHDCUA President.
Lectures / discussions covering the laws of cricket and local HK&HDCA playing conditions will be conducted on week 1 (16/9), and for approximately one hour on week 2.
This will be immediately followed by the open-book exam on week 2 (23/9), which candidates require a minimum 70% pass.
There is no charge to attend the course, however it is important that each Captain has the latest version (2003 update) of the MCC Laws of Cricket (small blue covered book).

Clubs are requested to send their nominations to attend this course to Bruce Wood, Umpires’ Secretary, by e-mail (hkumpsec@hotmail.com) by 14-9-08.

HKHDCUA successfully conducted an official umpires (badge) course on 12th, 13th & 20th February 2008 at Hornsby Bowling Club.
12 guys attended with 10 passing the exam and receiving a new HKHDCUA umpire’s badge (see logo).
The successful candidates were:  Alec Southam, Cameron Riddett, John Patten, Murray Hutton, Nathan Wood, Peter Schouten, Matt Jobson, Scott Burrows, Tim Davidson & Scott Reid.
Thanks to the experienced umpires who helped me run the course – Simon Moore, John McQuillan, Alex Terry & Barry McDonald.
