news Merilyn Fowler appointed as Scorer at Lords Ashes Test in July 2009

HKHDCUA wishes to congratulate Merilyn Fowler on her appointment as the official Scorer at the 2nd Ashes Test at Lords from 16-20 July 2009.
Merilyn (Director, NSWCUSA) was the special guest at our HKHDCUA Annual General Meeting in July 2008.   She has been the official scorer at 10 SCG Test matches, and countless One-Day Internationals and Sheffield Shield matches.
She is married to retired Shield umpire Nick Fowler and they have two young children.
Merilyn recently announced her intention to retire from all levels of scoring to spend more time with her family, so this Lords Test appointment is a fitting farewell to a wonderful career.
Interestingly, Merilyn has never been overseas so her trip to the UK should be an unforgettable experience.
On behalf of the Hornsby umpires, particularly those NSWCUSA members, I would like to wish Merilyn all the best for her trip to Lords, the home of cricket.
For more information on this story, refer to the NSWCUSA newsletter, which has been copied into our Library under ‘Cricket scoring‘.
Merilyn has also won a major NSW Sports Federation Award - Outstanding Official - International / National (Cricket).
