The annual umpires dinner was held on Friday night, June 5. Once again, it was at The Tucker Box in Richmond, where as always, the meals were excellent.

The evening was opened by the Secretary, Adrian Woodbury, welcoming the 22 guests and thanking members for their support of the HDCUA throughout the season. AJ also thanked Carl and the life members, Ian Johnston and Ken Birdsey for their support. He than ran through the agenda for the night before we sat down to a delicious entree.

Following the first course, HDCUA President, Carl Eilbeck got up and spoke,welcoming special guest, Sue Flaherty. He thanked the wives and partners of members for their support of their respective other halves. He also wished Ian and Lola Johnston a happy wedding anniversary.

Carl then handed the floor to our 2 life members, who spoke passionately about the HDCUA and umpiring in general.

It was then a good chance for the newer members to mix with the older, or more experienced members, as the night went on.

Unfortunately, Eric Tuckerman medallist for the season, Dave Mulford was unable to attend, so we will present his award at the AGM.
