The kids from Coffs Harbour Public School's English as a Second Language class.
Cricket NSW
Cricket NSW has been helping to grow the sport amongst kids of all cultures recently, with 25 kids from Coffs Harbour Public School who have English as their second language graduating from a Winter in2CRICKET Centre last week.
The five week program at Coffs Harbour Public School is one of 12 in2CRICKET centres being run over the winter months involving multicultural communities. The kids at Coffs Harbour come from a range of ethnic backgrounds, with all bar one of the students coming to Australia as refugees.
During each session, the kids were given the chance to participate in a range of fun activities and games which taught them the basic skills of cricket. Teachers at the school also observed an improvement in the kids’ social skills and self-esteem after taking part in the program.
