The NSW Blues represent Cricket NSW in the Bupa Sheffield Shield and Matador One Day Cup competitions.
The list of NSW contracted players is announced in April of each year.
The squad is chosen by the State Selection Panel based on performances over the previous summer in a number of competitions including the Bupa Sheffield Shield and Matador One Day Cup, McDonald’s Sydney First Grade and NSW Second XI and Futures League matches.
NSW also name up to six Rookie Contract players. These are offered to young players who have been identified as having the potential to represent NSW in the future.
Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder
The Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder are the two NSW based teams in the KFC T20 Big Bash League.
Each team is permitted to contract up to 18 players for any season, including two overseas players.
The squads are chosen by the respective coaches and General Managers and include players based in Sydney and Interstate.
Each team also selects a supplementary list of players who may be called upon during the tournament to provide cover for injuries and International selection.
