Cricket NSW has secured the signing of the exciting Sri Lankan Tillakaratne Dilshan for the 2010/11 KFC T20 Big Bash competition.

Dilshan, 33, is one of the most dynamic Twenty20 batsmen in world cricket as well as being a superb fieldsman and useful off spin bowler. He is currently playing for the Delhi DareDevils in the IPL, and boasts an International T20 batting average of 31.94 with a strike-rate of 129.42. He was one of the stars during last year's ICC T20 World Championship in England, scoring 317 runs in seven innings with a top score of 96no against the West Indies in the semi-final.

Dilshan has played 60 Test matches, 174 One-day Internationals and 23 T20 Internationals for Sri Lanka.

Cricket NSW Chief Executive David Gilbert is delighted with the signing: 'Tillakaratne Dilshan is an outstanding all-round player. As well as being one of the world's most destructive batsmen in Twenty20 cricket, he brings a wealth of international experience to our team. We look forward to him playing a leading role in helping NSW win next season's Big Bash, thereby qualifying for the Champions League.'

Dilshan's signing was organised through the Essentially Group, and he will join the RTA SpeedBlitz Blues just prior to the Big Bash once the approval of the Sri Lankan Board has been granted.
