City and Suburban CA
Welcome to City and Suburban Cricket Association
2008/09 Season One of Sydney's best kept cricketing secrets is the City and Suburban Cricket Association. The Association was formed in 1903 and is a direct affiliate of NSW Cricket Association under the banner of Sydney Cricket Association. MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE, 2007/8 President: Ralph Sadler: 9428 1737 (H) 0424 55 961 rjsadler@bigpond.net.au Secretary: Brian Breakspear: 9543 0171 (H) 0414 639 847 bgbreakspear@hotmail.com Asst Secretary: Mick Halliday: 9736 3888 0411 188 602 mickh@chippendale.biz Treasurer: Gary Winney: 0413 139 181 gaz.winney@gmail.com City and Suburban Cricket is all about playing good quality cricket in a friendly but competitive atmosphere. There is no competition table but all matches are played under the MCC Laws of Cricket and rely on the integrity of players to uphold the laws and traditions of cricket. Renowned for playing cricket in the true spirit of the game, teams play limited over matches on Saturdays or Sundays from October to March, predominately on turf wickets, using a four piece ball. Matches commence at 1.30 and are usually played with 35 overs per side, but this does vary as some clubs prefer to begin earlier and play 40 overs per side. In season 2005/2006, a knockout competition, The Jack Pace Shield, was introduced into our Association. This inaugural knockout competition, played over 4 rounds, was won by the Colleagues Club who defeated I Zingari in the final. If you are interested in finding out more or want to have a game of cricket, without the pressure of commitment every weekend, contact one of the clubs in the Association, listed below, or contact the Association Secretary. Foundation Clubs in 1903, and still participating, are, in alphabetical order:- Hunters Hill, Nondescripts, University of Sydney Veterans, Yaralla and I Zingari.
